Residents of Southeast Queensland experienced storms and rainfall resulting in flash flooding, major damage and long term power outages.
Love This City worked together with Combined Gold Coast Faith Communities to provide supplies and support to the Gold Coast Community Recovery Hubs, and responded directly to needs as they arose.

Love This City has partnered with Global Care who provide an opportunity to serve in green waste clean up at residential properties in the aftermath of the storms. This is an ongoing need, and new volunteers are always welcome!

Together with our partners we have distributed 590 grocery hampers, $7,400 in gift cards, with the help of 119 volunteers.
With children returning to school in the coming weeks, it has highlighted a clear need within the community. Families already in vulnerable financial positions before the Gold Coast storms and floods are now facing further challenges, with some facing difficulties in purchasing new school uniforms and others struggling to provide lunch for their children. In response, we are exploring partnering with St. John's Crisis Care, SU Chaplains, Recovery Hubs and CityCare School Food Pantries to provide much-needed Food Relief assistance in meeting these pressing needs. Through this partnership, we aim to provide targeted support to vulnerable families and ensure that children can access the resources they need to thrive.
